"Sad news" (February, 2008)
On Thursday the 28th of February Dancing About Architecture will play its last gig ever. To our friends who have shown us so much support over the last few years, thanks a lot. We've had a lot of fun.
"Great lyrics..." (November, 2007)
A few snippets of great lyrics worth noting...
"She had a West Coast strut that was sweet as molasses, but what really knocked me out was her cheap sunglasses." - Cheap Sunglasses, ZZ Top
"Then Miles made a major career move, thriving on a riff and into the groove. Hip central station training in, but here's the twist - the train caught him." - Hip Replacement, Directions in Groove
"Website launch" (June, 2007)
So this is the new website. As a special bonus we've put up every one of our recordings up for free download - enjoy! "Romance & Reality" is old and with a
different lineup, but it does have vocals on it. "Live @ The Brisbane Jazz Club" is new and recorded live. We've written new stuff since then though so make
sure you come and see us live.
"The new D.A.A lineup" (June, 2007)
2007's been an exciting year for the band...read about the new members (Rowan, Carson, and Neal) in "about the band" if you're interested. If not, just know
that Dancing About Architecture's got a horn section now and we're not afraid to use it. ;)
reviews...
"This 6-7 piece brisbane based jazz-funk band is as fresh as it gets"
- Jim Budd, Marketing and Development Officer for Jazz Queensland
"Andrew Ward from Jazz Queensland says stylistic emphases tend to vary from state to state. In Perth there is a preoccupation with
harmony and in southeast Queensland a strong interest in rhythmic complexity and time due to percussionists Ken Edie, Grant Collins
and the ensembles Babal, Dancing About Architecture and the Trevor Hart Trio."
- Article on the Australian jazz scene, Courier Mail, June 24 2006.
